Singer Robert Summerfield and pianist Lars Duppler have created an incredibly sensitive and personal sound portrait of one of the greatest female composers and musicians of our time. It is about the iconic musician Joni Mitchell.

The roads of Robert Summerfield and Lars Duppler crossed for the first time in 2015 - they accompanied their friend and colleague Nils Wülker on an album release tour; many concert evenings together followed. In the winter of 2020, they decided to act independently as a duo. While researching material, they came across Joni Mitchell, whom they both admire. Music that is equally challenging and aesthetically inspiring. After extended rehearsal sessions and the final song selection, they decided to bring this programme on stage together with a saxophonist.

"On JONI, Mitchell's songs sound as they were intended in the first place." (Jazzthetik 2022/07)

"[The records "Seagull" and "Hejira"] - serves them as a songbook for the very quiet afterhours. They manage this exceedingly well thanks to a jazz-sensitive delicacy. Summerfield works with the songs' space with high stylistic confidence, and Duppler plays just as consciously with silence and pauses." (ROLLING STONE 2022/08)

"Essential Joni Mitchell songs like "Both Sides Now", "Song To A Seagull" or "Blue Motel Room" float touching and beautiful to the ear in a fragile new recording." (Jazz Highlight 4 von 5 Sternen - AUDIO 2022/07)
